Recap Of My Month: April 2013

Oh April, you were one hell of a month.  From totaling my car to breakups, I can't say this has been the best month for me, but I think I got through it just fine.

I still can't believe that I wrecked my first car after having it for just about 4 years, but in my defense it wasn't my fault.  I mean the situation wasn't all that bad considering I got a brand new car out of it ... hehe!  And then the following week I went through a breakup.  Everything happens for a reason right?  The best part of my month had to be spending this past weekend in Las Vegas.  It was just what I needed and I had so much fun!

I learned a lot this month... especially that the bad times don't last forever.  I'm not really a person to dwell on sucky situations because over time I've just come to realize that it's not worth it.  You live and you learn right?  I'm continuing to find things that make me happy and blogging is definitely one of them so I will continue to do that for as long as my little heart desires!  As for the rest of the world, I hope your month was fabulous and that the month of May is even better!

Review: Mac Pro Longwear Concealer

I discovered this concealer on a trip to the MAC counter to pick up a new lipstick, but as you can tell by this post I walked out with more than just a lipstick... oops!  I've heard a lot of good things about this concealer so I thought why not?  When first seeing this I couldn't help but notice that it had a pump! Although the pump does distribute way more product than you actually need, I still can't complain since it keeps the product sanitary.  As for the product itself... It's amazing!  It has a liquid consistency that dries and sets pretty quickly.  This concealer is definitely medium to full coverage and a little goes a very long way.  The best thing about it is that it doesn't crease under the eye!  It's the first concealer I've ever used that hasn't creased on me and just for that I'd give this a 10/10!  I personally use this to brighten up my under eye area so I picked up an NW 35, which is lighter and slightly more pink than my skin tone.  For reference I usually am an NW 45 in MAC cosmetics even though its slightly too orange and a little too dark, but it's the closest match.  If you give this try let me know your thoughts!

Deep Conditioning With Coconut Oil

I've been deep conditioning my hair with coconut oil every week for about 3 months now and boy oh boy has it been making a huge difference!  I was never really into using natural products, but I'm so glad I gave this a go.  After deep conditioning with coconut oil I've noticed that my split ends are a lot less noticeable and my hair has been growing a lot faster... overall my hair looks so much healthier!  I prefer to use the organic virgin coconut oil from Trader Joe's, but I'm sure any coconut oil would work as long as it's virgin or extra virgin (meaning its unrefined and therefor has its benefits without the addition of chemicals).  I do have to warn you though that this oil hardens in cooler temperatures, so if you do try this I suggest holding a blow drier to your head or sitting in front of your portable heater for a bit right before you wash it out.  The best thing about this oil is that its the only oil to penetrate your hair shaft even after being washed out!

How I use Coconut Oil to deep condition my hair:

1) Put as much Coconut oil as you think your hair needs depending on the length (I have mid length hair and I use about 2 big spoon fulls) into a bowl.

2) Heat the Coconut Oil for about 30 seconds or until it liquifies (you dont want to get it too hot or it'll burn your scalp!).

3) Apply the Oil root to tip until you have covered all of your hair.

4) Let it sit in your hair for 30 mins - 1 hour.

5) Shampoo and Condition as normal (you might have to shampoo twice if you feel as though your hair is still oily).

6) Enjoy your beautiful healthy hair and let me know if you see a difference after doing it for a few weeks!

I hope this works for you as well as it did for me!
